Directions:
1. Read “Where Does Halloween Come From?" with the members of your Table.
2. Complete the 4 comprehension questions on the back of the page.
3. Underline the evidence within the text that helped you come up with your answer.  
4. Be ready to share your thoughts on the following questions.

• Why is it important to understand where customs and traditions come from?
• Why is important to learn about the history of things like Halloween, etc?
• Why is it important to learn about things that happened long ago?

Unit 2: Create your own Timeline

• I can use my knowledge of chronological order, along with my timeline data, to create a timeline involving events from my own life.

Directions to Create Your Own Timeline

1. Use a ruler to draw every line!
2. Be sure you number your timeline with equal intervals between dates.
3. Accurately place your events in the appropriate spot. 
4. Label each event. Include a small illustration to go with each event.
5. Write as clearly as you can.
6. Your timeline MUST have a title, and at least 10 events. 
7. See the timeline of Benjamin Franklin’s life below as an example of what your timeline should look like.

Unit 1 Assessment Day: Famous Failures - If you’ve never failed, you’ve never tried anything new!

Today you will be taking the Unit 1 Assessment on Geography and Cartography

Step 1: You will be working in groups of 3. Work with your group members to first make corrections to Friday's Quiz. ***Be sure you hand them in to improve your quiz grade.

Step 2: Fill out the answer Key for your dream vacation.
Select a location to begin your Dream Vacation (Write the city & Country)
Select Select 9 other locations to visit on your journey (Write the City and Country)

Step 3: Select a location where yo would like to finish your dream vacation. (Write the City and Country)

Step 4: Fill out the corresponding Coordinate sheet using the maps in your World Textbook as a reference. Yo must write down the latitude and longitude coordinates for each of the cities you will be visiting on your dream vacation.

Answer Key & Coordinate sheet look exactly alike. 

Plot your route on a world map. Use the cities names and be sure you number each stop on your vacation!
