Directions:
Use the map of the United States on page R14-R15 in your ‘World’ Textbook to find the following states. Write the correct response, spelled correctly, on the line provided.

I can create an illustration of a compass rose with the cardinal directions and the intermediate directions.

I can use a compass rose to locate countries using a political map of Africa.

Activity #1
Cut out and glue in the world map.

Activity #2
Directions:
Use the political map of Africa on page R8 in your “World: Adventures in Time and Place” textbook, along with the printed version of the map to find the different locations. Use the compass rose to help you locate the country whose location is being described.

• I can name the seven continents and the five oceans of the world.

Directions:

1. Work in groups of 3 to complete today’s activity.

2. Use your knowledge of the continents and oceans of the world, along with the word bank & the map below, to label all 7 of the continents and the 4 major oceans. 

3. Finish labeling the Compass Rose with NE, SE, NW, and SW.

4. Color the continents green.

5. Color the oceans blue.

Work carefully and cooperatively!
